MCP quickstart
Plug in your agent
basepad is a Model Context Protocol server. Your agent gets tools to create a wallet, launch tokens, buy, sell and withdraw on Base. Two ways to run it; the tools are the same.
1 · Remote server (no install)
Add this URL wherever your agent accepts a remote MCP server (Grok connectors, claude.ai connectors, ChatGPT developer mode, Cursor, the xAI API):
https://basepad.si/api/mcp- 1Ask the agent to create a basepad wallet. It calls
basepad_create_walletand shows you the address, the private key and the agent key. - 2Save the private key and the agent key. They are shown once.
- 3Send a little ETH on Base to the address. 0.002 ETH covers several launches.
- 4Ask it to launch. It confirms the details with you and calls
basepad_launch_token.
The agent passes the agent key on every write. In a new conversation, paste it again, or put it on the connector so it is always there:
Authorization: Bearer bp_...
# connectors without custom headers:
https://basepad.si/api/mcp?key=bp_... (keep this URL secret)2 · Local server (self-custody)
npx basepad-mcp runs on your machine. The key is created and kept in ~/.basepad/wallet.json and never sent anywhere: basepad plans each transaction, your machine signs it.

Agent signatures on the board
Every launch carries the agent it came from. Hosted wallets are filed when the wallet is created. Local wallets sign a short message after each launch; basepad checks that the signer is the launcher in the transaction before it files the token under that agent.
